A New Normal

Well, we haven't fallen off the face of the earth. This Friday finished our fourth week in our "new normal" routine. Marlee and Cooper started attending a new preschool in town. I was worried about their adjustment and had Chad go with me that first day to drop them off. Thankfully, it was wonderful. They love it! There are so many new things for them to explore, friends to meet, and toys to play with. Several times they have been upset because I have showed up too early to pick them up.

The only negative is nap time. Marlee and Cooper do not take naps and require little sleep to function. Well at their new school, they seem to take a nap everyday. Great right? Nope! They are staying up E-V-E-R-Y night until 9:30, 10:00 and sometimes even 11 at night because they just aren't tired.  It is taking its toll on Chad and I. We've tried several different things to resolve the issue. I hope that the time change will influence an earlier bedtime. We can only hope.

Transitioning to full-time work with two small children has been easier than I thought. Although these late night bedtimes are working on me. I am not able to do any school work at home until the kids are asleep, and I feel guilty staying at work past 4:30. So I guess you could say time is not on my side. Balance is what I am trying to find. I knew the first several weeks would require some work in terms of balancing my time. Hopefully in a few more weeks I can update and say we are sailing through great! :)

Going back to the classroom after a few years off is just like riding a bike.  I fell back into "teacher mode" and picked up where I left off. I have a really sweet group of kids. They enjoy the random and weird songs I make up throughout the day. They even try their hands at singing along. I do have a few class clowns but every class seems to have a few of those. I do have my work cut out for me in terms of academics. I hope I live up to the sales pitch I gave the interviewers back in June.

So blogging may take a back seat for a while. I have hardly taken pictures over the last two months. Marlee has a milestone birthday at the end of this month, so I promise to blog about our great adventures to celebrate turning 5 years old!

Oh and it's football season, so GO VOLS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
