The kids started back to school last week. And so did I! I wasn't too sure how the kids would react to me being there during the day. So before school started last week, we talked about it. Now this summer Cooper screamed and cried everyday when I dropped him off. Thank goodness that has stopped! I really think he's much more at ease with me being there even though I am not in his class. He informed Ms. Debbie and Ms. Dee that his Momma was at school. I'm so glad he has the same teachers he had from the summer. I think that also helped with his happier transition. His only meltdown was when my class was leaving the playground. He thought I was leaving for good. (And Yay! for Cooper!! Big boy underwear all day and pull ups at bedtime. Boo for Momma though. Boy potty-training is super messy. I mop the bathroom floor at least twice a day. Plus he changes clothes several times a day too. Not because of accidents per say, but because he can't control his aim.)
Marlee has really jumped right in! She has a new teacher, who is so soft spoken and sweet. Marlee told me she gave her two hugs that first week of school. Wednesday, she walked right up to Ms. Susan with a smile and hugged her. She really seems to like her class. She's making lots of new friends and talks about them at home. Don't tell Chad, but tonight she said, "Mom, I think I have a boyfriend. And his name is Will." He's there the same two days as Marlee, and I have seen that they are pretty inseparable.
As far as learning goes, they have a letter of the week and monthly themes and weekly bible studies. This week they all studied the letter A. They were very excited to bring home their artwork to showoff. Now I need something to keep it all in. I hate to throw any of it away. The Pastor also comes by once a week for Chapel time. I'm in there with my class at the same time as Marlee's. It doesn't last longer than 15 minutes, but they all seem attentive and seem to enjoy it.
My part in preschool is going well, too. I have a big project in front of me, but I have made a priority list and will just work off of it until I'm done. My problem is that I want it all done now. I have to learn to pace myself and do the work there. I don't get paid enough to bring it home with me. Thankfully, Ms. Adele understands that and makes sure I know there is no rush.
Well that's really all that has been happening around here for the last few weeks. UT football is right around the corner, so GO VOLS!!! Have a safe Labor Day weekend!
