Marlee went for her 3 year check up on Monday. She's been in the 75th-90th percent for her height since she was born. Actually, she's been closer to the 90th percent. She measured in at 39 and 3/4 inches tall. Which is in the 95th-100th percent range for other girls her age. She's nearly doubled her height in 3 years. She was 20 inches long at birth.
I had forgotten that 3 years is the age you can double a child's height and get a really good guess as to how tall they will be as adults. Marlee is projected to be at least 5'8" tall! Holy cow! Dr. Douglass said she could actually grow up to 6 ft tall. That's just crazy to think my little girl will more than likely be taller than me as adult.
She weighed 35 and a half pounds, which put her in the 90th percent. Dr. Douglass said she is perfectly proportioned for height and weight.
I also asked about the attitude and behavior problems we've been experiencing here about the last 6 months. She said typically the "terrible 2's/3's" last about 12 months. So if we've been battling behavior problems for 6 months, then we probably have about 6 months left. Consistency and logical consequences are key to keeping her in line. I love the kids' doctor so much because she is a mother of 3 young children. She admits that she's not perfect and will share her experiences with you. She never makes you feel silly or dumb for asking questions. Most importantly, she never makes me feel like I am doing anything wrong and lets me know that I am not alone in my struggles in parenting.
Parenting is like Christmas morning in a way. You wake up each morning never knowing what surprises you're going to "unwrap" in terms of experiences with your children. It is nice to have a support system of friends, family and doctors like her to listen and offer advice when things seem difficult.
On another note, we went to TN this past weekend to celebrate Marlee's 3rd birthday and my friend's wedding. We took over 250 pictures, so it will be a few days before I get everything sorted and edited and ready to post. Check back toward the end of the week for pictures of all the fun!
Have a great rest of the week!

What a big girl!! Just think, if she does grow up to be 5'8, she can reach all the up high stuff for you! LOL :) We had so much sharing in Miss M's bday, thanks for having us!
