Well a friend I use to work with has a horse named Sassy. Sassy is boarded at a wonderful 100+ acre farm not to far from our house. Now that the fall weather has seemed to kick in, she invited Marlee, Cooper, and myself out to the barn. She has a 2 year old little boy who loves to go to the barn, too.
So I told Marlee Tuesday night what our plans were for Wednesday. First thing the next morning she's asking when we're going to the barn. She was very excited. She put on her new pony shirt, pony jacket, and had one (of many) horses ready to go.
We packed a picnic lunch and set off on our new adventure. The kids were a little intimidated about the sizes of the horses at first. There were 2 barns with several stalls and also several pastures with horses out roaming. I would say there's a good 2 dozen horses on the farm.
Sally got Sassy all saddled up. Cooper and I helped brush him. Marlee watched from afar. I rode first and then Coop sat with me for a few minutes. Marlee wouldn't get on, but she did pet Sassy and touched the saddle. I think a few more visits out there, and she'll be ready to ride.
We ended our adventure with a nice picnic lunch. It was a peaceful atmosphere, and I look forward to going again soon. Below is a collage of some of the pictures I took. I didn't get any of me or Cooper but aim to do that next time.

I love the pic of M holding her horsey and looking through the gate. Too sweet--glad you all had fun!! :)
So fun! Tell Marlee that I love horses too, but they kind of scare me a little. If they seem big to us grownups, can you imagine how enormous they seem to a toddler???
